I'm 39.5 weeks pregnant and I just don't "feel" like I'm ever going to have him. The doctor says I'm 2cm dilated and 80% effaced, but overall I feel pretty good, and I'm not having hardly any contractions etc. It just doesn't seem like it is ever going to happen. Did your labor come by surprise, or had you "felt" like it was going to happen for a few days?Mine was a surprise. I had no forewarning signs. I just woke up, had to pee, and noticed I felt this weird tightening.
Have you started walking? Have sex? Doing some squats? my first child i stayed 1 cm for 1 month i felt the same way. finally my doctor induced me thank god!I thought I had started contractions at 38w and then nothing it all just stopped. I had to be induced at 41w and that actually was the day that my contractions had started on their own.
Went to the hospital for monitoring and discovered that with each contraction the baby's heart beat would drop to 41bpm Thank GOD they were monitoring. Rushed in for an emergency c-section...got one healthy baby boy 9min later.
DON"t worry your almost 40w does your ob have a induction date...get one and go from there. SO atleast you have something to look forward to. IF the baby comes on its own before then you'll be pleasantly surprised. Good luck and a speedy healthy delivery for you. To help move your baby into an optimal position for birth you can walk, climb stairs, be intimate with your partner, swim, rock on your hands and knees for short periods of time and stay active to help your baby turn and rotate into a good position for birth. Walking is the number one secret to having a more productive and easier labor as the standing weight of baby helps to prepare your hips and body for the upcoming birth and the walking is relaxing for both baby and mom.I got contractions that I could've honestly sworn I was in labour during my 2nd and current (3rd) pregnancy. They would stay for several hours then stop abruptly. I don't know why, but it's rather irritating. When the actual event happened at 1st I thought it was just the same thing, but it soon intensified.
I don't think many 'feel' like it's going to happen (although we do wish strongly for it!).
It'll probably catch you by surprise. It's possible (because you've already started dialating, etc) that you may have a quick labour, so make sure you're prepared to get where you're going quickly I'm only 30 weeks and I don't feel like I'm ever going to have her D: at least you're pretty close!
Good luck with your delivery.even though i just had this feeling i was going to have early i didn't expect it that early. For the smot part i was always energetic during my pregnancy but i was having sporatic contractions sometimes. i had him at 36 weeks - i woke up in the morning and about 15 minutes alter my water broke so it was very unexpectedThe only way I knew I was in labor with my first was when I started cleaning my house. And not just here or there... I was moving furniture, vaccuming, on hands and knees kinda deal. I still get picked on about that, because this time I've been doing it since I was about 7 months. lol
You'll know when the time comes. It's like a voice in your head that says "Baby is coming stupid!!!" Just listen to your body. It never lies (Well, sometimes it does lol)Just comes by surprise, can happen anytime. Im sure it wont be long now. Good Luck. I was exactly one month almost to the day late with each of my three sons who were born in three years. The end does seems like it will never come but that I feel it could be natures' way of telling you to get ready for the baby - you're anxious and want 'to get on with it.' Thankfully, my oldest son is 42 (41 & 40 other two) so back then nothing was done and I just waited. I cried a lot the last three weeks of my first son but by the second and especially the third, I didn't listen to the doctor. But at least he seemed to believe me - I just seem to have 10 month babies or someone can't count.
With each one, I had intermittent labor for 2-3 weeks and was dilated. I woke with each one about 5:00 am and they were born 2-3 hours later. Yes, I 'felt' when the baby was about due but not everyone does. Some of the other comments are good; just relax and refresh. You're about to do one of the most wonderful jobs you'll ever do. Enjoy you baby and love the child.
