I have got a set of Word templates that pull in personal data from an ini file for each user. There is also VBA macro that lets them update their info. The templates and the data are held on a network drive that they all have read-only access to. This has worked fine for several years but now it won't let them save data ti the ini files. As they have read-only access this isn't surprising (what surprises me is why it ever worked). I am reluctant to give them write access because I don't want them messing with the templates. I could move the ini files to somewhere else but a) this would be a big job and b) as it's been working fine I don't want to upset things by changing too much. Is it possible to override the access rights or get round this problem some other way?

FionaCould you give global write access except for the templates to which they would only be granted read access?#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
