Hi guys, I have 2 softmodded XMBCs. I have 1 set up downstairs and 1 upstairs, both hardwired and both were recently working fine on DHCP off a wrt54g. We just had a power outage and things got weird. Both XBMC connect succesfully using the upstairs connection, but neither can now connect using the downstairs connection, saying no link......but I can obtain an ip address with my laptop using the downstairs connection. So it must not be a physical media problem if my laptop can connect successfully. Is there any settings I am missing. I have tried both static and dhcp.yeah that makes no sense that both don't work, but you've confirmed your laptop does. and i wanted to make sure that you were using the wired connection because i've had my own laptop default to wireless and i wasn't really aware of it.i got these both pre-modded so currently no other dashboards, the link light does not come on which makes me think its something with the hardware, but why would both xboxs not work but my laptop will???????very strange. do you have another dashboard that you can try? do you get a link light on the back of the xbox?there are no other settings. did you try using both at the same time from upstairs? and both are hardwired to the wrt54g or to something else? when you tested with your laptop, i assume you used the cable, correct?so i took the cable going to the Xbox, grabbed an old 4 port hub that was laying around, and plugged that cable into the hub as well as another cable from the hub to the xbox, now it works......?????
Strange stuff.....did not have them both on at the same time, but they both worked upstairs and both didn't work downstairs. both are hardwired to the same wrt54gc that is acting as a hub. and I made sure to turn off the wireless on my laptop when testing it so as not to confuse the situation, the laptop was using the exact same cable and connected and obtained an IP address straight away#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
