    after...newbie...lol

  • i would, but (1) ip configuration has not been in the xboxmediacenter.xml file for quite some time; and (2) i dont use ics.

as for your smb bookmark, just follow the example in the previous message and fill in the appropiate information.

  • if you're using ics, you need to set your default gateway to your pc (192.168.0.1), and your dns to your internet dns. if you're having problems with smb bookmarks, change the pc name to an ip address as a test.

    smb://workgroup;user:pass@192.168.0.1/share/path/

  • hi mate...

thanks for the info...would you be able to attach a pic of your xbmc.xmlfile so i can see if we have the same,as the the one installed by auto-installer cd is diferrent than the one installed by slayers....

    cheers mate

  • to answer your ip question when you enable ics i think the pc will default to 192.168.0.1 for the lan which you should be sharing. assuming you are connected fine to the internet via your broadband you have 2 options for the xbox. either give it a manual ip on the same subnet as your pc. ie 192.168.0.2 or configure as dhcp and it will request an ip from your pc automatically. if you leave it as dhcp you won't need to configure gateway or dns.

as for editing xml there are plently of read me's detailing this but you can copy back the main config xml to your pc and use an editor (notepad, crimson editor etc)
