767 on DL is 2-class service ??

  • I have flown on the L-1011 and the 767 on DL in the last month, and to my surprise, neither had a business class configuration, and the number of first class seats was extremely limited. I counted 24 on the 767, compared to what, 250 or so coach seats ?

I do not know if this is common, but if might sway me to fly United more, as far as upgrade potential.

  • the flights were indeed domestic. I am just not accustomed to seeing so little FC seating in a wide-body, let alone no Business Class.

I am not aware of UA or others having such a limited selection of FC or Business Class seating on wide-body aircraft.

  • Sounds about right to me. Depends on what class 767 or L1011 you're flying.

The 767-300 does have 24 FC seats. The 767-200 has only 18. The 300ER, used mostly for transoceanic routes, has only 10 FC seats, but an additional 28 Business Class seats.

The L1011s, and I admit to a failing memory here, having flown them very infrequently in the last 4 years, have 30 or 32 FC seats, and the transoceanic version has 12 FC seats and an additional 22 or 24 BC seats (**more or less**).

Are you talking about domestic flights here, or international flights? Your numbers do appear to be right on. Does United have more FC domestic seats? If I were an elite level at United, this would certainly influence me to put more of my travel on United!

    Thanx,
