» Weird problem with XBMC accessing Samba shares.

My XBox exclusively plays media content from a shared drive on a PC. In the past I had WinXP installed on this PC and enabled folder sharing on the media folder and everything worked perfectly. I however, am now trying to make the switch to Linux (Ubuntu Feisty Fawn). I'm now sharing another folder using the whole samba share tool provided in Ubuntu and made the appropriate changes in XBMC's source.xml On the X-box I'm able to navigate around the shared folder just fine, I can even play some videos..but other videos mysteriously fail to work. » How to finance a wedding?

Throwing any partyâ ” including a weddingâ ” takes money. Youâ ™ll need clothing, decorations, food, and place to entertain your guestsâ ¦and that all needs to be paid for. I think the best for you is to read this entire article which is exactly about: Financing A Wedding http://thestylishwedding.com/Financing-A... If you don't have money for a wedding you want, then down size....Have a small wedding or just elope. Getting in debt for one 'special' day is not how family life should start. » Is Member Eligibility in Membership Nonprofits

If a California nonprofit corporation's bylaws says that the nonprofit shall have one class of members, but doesn't make mention of who the members are, and the nonprofit is a school, could the members be tuition-paying parents? It has never been run as a membership nonprofit--no annual membership meetings, no election of directors by the members, etc. We do not have the articles of incorporation, so we do not know if it makes mention of the members. If there is no mention, I'm wondering if by default, members are parents who are paying tuition ot the school. I believe it is a public benefit corporation....... - 2009-07-04

What are the black "ski mask type hoods" that the ATF and/or law enforcement agents wear? Are they to disguise themselves or used as protection (i.e. bullet proof.) I have seen them wearing this in the coverage of the sniper attacks in DC.Dear cew-ga; Having spent more than twenty years in law enforcement I have some first hand knowledge of the equipment you are asking about and I’d be happy to answer your question. Tactical officers primarily use the hoods that you speak of during raids, high-risk arrests, and dangerous warrant service scenarios and they serve multiple functions. - The hood provides a certain amount of concealment in dimly lit to darkened areas limiting a suspect’s depth perception, thereby depriving th...... - 2009-07-04

» G'day all

Hi everyone, looks like this is the place to introduce yourself. I'm in Australia, and as far as photography goes, well, a bit of a newby. I'm hoping to learn a bit here. Until recently all my cameras have been of the 'point and shoot' variety, latest an APS. Couple of months ago I decided that a better camera widens your options somewhat, particularly with my main interest being in photographing racing motorcycles, so I jumped in the deep end and bought myself a very aged fully-manual SLR camera, and since then I've managed to get some more lenses for it. I'm now experimenting with them. Good news is, the first film (with the 135mm lens that came with the camera) came out well. We'll see about the next one! Cheers Jewelwelc...... - 2009-07-04

Hi: Am looking for information on how long the average reader of a trade (business) publication reader spends looking at an ad in a trade (business) publication, as in: "According to NNNNNN, the average reader of a trade publication will spend just X seconds viewing an average page of advertising in a trade publication." --please note we are interested specifically in trade publication readership, not general consumer market.Hi gagnon- It is highly unlikely that a researcher will be able to find any reliable data on the precise amount of time a reader spends looking at an ad specifically in a trade magazine, or any other publication for that matter. I believe I have undifferentiated schizophrenia. I am seeking help and I want to know how much will my personality change. What makes you think you have schizophrenia? I don't think there's any way to change your personality, and since schizophrenia isn't a personality disorder, I don't know why treatment would affect your personality. Some meds may slow you down a bit, but there are plenty of different meds available, and you should just keep working with your doctor until you find something that works. And you may not have schizophrenia -- please see a professional and don't count on this gang of pseudo-experts. » The next James Bond a black man?

I heard rumor that they are considering making a new Bond movie that starts a black actor as 007. I also hear that it is because the new president is black. I AM NOT racist, in fact my best friend is black. But I'm just wondering if the rumor is true because I am a big James Bond fan. But if they bastardize the movie by abominating the main character with a race that is not the original idea it would be like defacing mona lisa and replacing her with Pee-Wee Herman. I swear to GOD I will truly hate James bond. I love black and white people the same but wrong is wrong and if they f*** up the 007 Legacy I will bake terroristic violence on them. » Are Mixed-Race children smarter than 'pure-bred' children?

No. I love these stupid questions. Two more points for me!there's probably some genetics involved.. and dna.. dna gets damaged.. this is why people in same family or close blood ties should not reproduce together.. because the duel strands of dna one from each parent.. should complement eachother.. ie the flaws and damage not in the same place.. on the dna.. this leads to birth defects etc.. so to some extent.. "mixed" marriages kind of help ensure the two dna's are not too similar in their flaws.. there is the genetics too.. i imagine there are genes that make some people smarter than others.. i dont think that's a racial thing.. i think each race has it's geniuses and morons.. and it's up to you to...... - 2009-07-04

We ended it with a hug and it was good in a way. I cried for about 20 min and the next day i just kept my head up high and went about my day. I really had been fine until a few days ago. I plugged the TV cable into my camera and into my tv to start reviewing pictures. Even though the colors weren't exactly spot on(could have adjusted) it was filling up the entire screen with minimal appearance issues. What's the difference between what my screen was displaying and how large I can print something. I understand its probably a magnification but still it didn't look that horrible. If I confused anyone I'm not surprised but I'd be glad to clear anything up.The only things deciding how large prints you can do is the actual pixel dimensions and the technical quality of the photo. Using a TV as some kind of proofing seems like a really bad idea since it probably distorts colours and contrast far more than you can imagine.Thanks...... - 2009-07-04

» Are children who act in rated 'R' movies allowed to see them?

are do they have to get a parent to buy their tickets? That would suck lol.It depends on the child, their parents, and the director. For example in the Shining, the boy who plays Danny Torrance, was not aware that the movie was even a horror (and likely of its R rating), until the end because Stanley Kubrick decided that it would be best if he did not know. Whether or not he did see the movie following that I am not aware.I don't think they can watch it cos the parts that they would play aren't R rated they don't get to see those bits, They probably shoot their scenes on a different day to the adults. And I somehow don't think that their parents would allow them to watch the finished product, Unless the director gives t...... - 2009-07-04

I think skating on ice is easier than rollerblading, but I've been skating longer than even rollerblades were on the market. As for lessons, it depends on what you want to do. Lessons are naturally going to increase your skills set, but if you're just planning on going to skate to have fun with friends, lessons aren't really necessary. If your goal is to "wow" your friends, sure, take a few lessons. Maybe you could even teach them a few things or you'll find you really enjoy the sport...... - 2009-07-04

» Examples/Cases: 1) You Don't Need Formal Planning, 2) Keeping eveyone informed

I am writing a book and need some colorful examples. I need examples of business leaders and their companies. I need two different comapnies. These need to be exciting and compelling and interesting stories to read. They can be summarized from newspaper articles, magazines, TV, etc. They can be about companies that you (the Google researcher) know and written by you (but you will give me right to your them - I will acknowledge your contributions if used verbatim). 1. Some business leader (preferably famous) saying that if they had devoted time and resources to formally planning their business, it would have been a failure. They never would have done such and such and been such a big success. Especially when the business...... - 2009-07-04

vB is running really slow when the post table is accessed, its over 4GB now! Anything that would speed this up would be great :) PHP runs fine, but MySQL really bottlenecks. If there is a query to insert a post for example, it locks the table and prevents anything being done until its inserted (maybe 10-15 seconds). If I can stop the locking the site will drastically speed up. Its a dedicated server, 2 x 2.8Xeons, 1GB Ram, 2 x 120GB drives (php/win on one, MySQL on the other). Running Windows 2003 fully patched. This site is the only main site on there (3 tiny ones). Running 3.0.5 (but manually patched to 3.0.7 because of hacks). 5.5 Million posts and up to 1000 users online, normally 400-700. (computers to machinery)there are two approaches to help the poor -- dole-out or something that is sustainable. Some people would be happy giving out the basic needs of food, clothing, books (education) through charity work. There are groups which build homes for the poor through voluntary work. » question about swift3D

Hi I just bought the v.3 and have some question, How to make your text [or object] looke chrome? I applied metal material to it, but it didn't work, as if I applied a flat colour. and lets say if you have a square and you want to cut it only 1/4 of it, how do you do that? does swift 3d has ability to crop objects as well as any other 3D software? thank you very muchI only have V2 so I'm not sure if all this applies. As far as chrome goes, I've found that speculative colors, with highlights and shadows turned on, can produce chrome looking effects if the lights are positioned correctly. It takes some playing around though. The objects are vector drawn though, so keep that in mind. The objects will never look really chrome, j...... - 2009-07-04

Pork Alert: Specialists fear outbreak of deadly plague among Armenian swine By Sara Khojoyan ArmeniaNow reporter [/URL]In the last 10 days nearly 800 pigs have been destroyed in the provinces of Lori and Tavush of Armenia in suspicion that the swine could be infected of African plague. The plague, though not transferable to humans, has deadly consequences for swine. It is not believed to be transferable to other livestock. Symptoms of the plague include bruises on the animal’s body, fever and hemorrhage. No cure nor vaccination is known. Our master shower only gets warm and cold soon thereafter. Sometimes it is near cold through the entire shower and at other times (after substantial hot water use through the house) it does get near hot. We had a plumber come in who replaced the dip tube in the water heater as a precaution and changed our faucet from a two knob to a single knob. Neither of these "fixes" worked...we do have hot water to the master bathroom sinks and throughout the house. I'm not sure the problem, but each morning I am reminded that it really needs to be fixed. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.Check the shutoff valve for the shower. » If Oklahoma beats Oklahoma State will they have a higher BCS ranking than Texas?

Yes. The humans poll already have OU ahead of Texas the only thing hurting OU right now are the computer rankings (some of the computers actually have Texas Tech still ahead of Oklahoma). But a road win against a very good team will help the Sooners in the computer rankings, while playing A&M will hurt Texas in the computers. And the scores won't matter, because the BCS computers aren't allowed to factor Margin of Victory in their rankings. Only if the win over OSU is a route. Texas is a 34 point favorite against A&M, and Texas Tech will win easily against Baylor. What really has the potential to get ugly is if Oklahoma State beats Oklahoma - which is possible.
