I thought I would bring up this topic for those of us who practice mileage running to contemplate/debate. I am not going to pass judgement, and hope nobody else who posts on this thread will either. While overall it can be said that flying on airplanes gets better gas mileage than driving, we travel great distances on airplanes and therefore burn a lot of gas per person. For example (and I'm approximating values here), a 5,000 mile MR might use 50 mpg per person, so one person might burn up about 100 gallons of gas doing this. While it can be argued that these planes will fly anyway, we are helping to increase loads and keep emptier flights fuller which may in some ways keep an otherwise unprofitible flight from being cancelled in t...... - 2008-11-18

I'm thinking about upgrading my kit (currently 10D and a few not so expensive lenses) I'd love to get a full frame 5D (or 1D Mark III) but thats out of my budget range. I have flown on the L-1011 and the 767 on DL in the last month, and to my surprise, neither had a business class configuration, and the number of first class seats was extremely limited. I counted 24 on the 767, compared to what, 250 or so coach seats ? I do not know if this is common, but if might sway me to fly United more, as far as upgrade potential.Sounds about right to me. I noticed that my Ext.data.Store doesn't send the value of params (nor baseParams, for that matter) to the server when i call getStore().load(). The call itself goes to the server, of course, but the Request.Form is empty! I fixed the issue by sending in {params: 'bzzzz'} as a parameter to the load() method. However, i'd love to know why it didn't worked the expected way. I also tried to create proxy. That went equivalently fuilure-ish as well. I'm unsure what proxy is good for but that's a story for another thread, coming soon to a forum near you.Adding baseParams to your Ext.data.Store configuration should ensure that these additional params are posted with every load of the store. When you CLICK into a textfield, if you want to select the existing text you might do something like this: fieldLabel: 'someLabel', name: 'someName', selectOnFocus: true,//select all of the existing text value: 'someValue' The above works fine when you CLICK into the field. I haven't dug into the source yet, but it looks like Ext probably just listens to the focus event and if that setting is true it deselects the text (for a brief moment I can see the contents get selected then deselect). The problem: if you tab or shift+tab to gain focus it doesn't honor the selectOnFocus setting. I don't want to be neurotic, but I don't want to be naive either. This girl I've been talking to for awhile...she always does this. I just bought two tix for two different people (a few months apart) on www.travelocity.co.uk (http://www.travelocity.co.uk) from Europe to Australia for just about 240 pounds ($360). This seems to be a giveaway and an internet anomaly!!! This is even cheaper than a fare between Europe and N-America!! The city search codes I used (and the only ones that produce this fare) are: TLL-SYD/MEL/BNE/ADL. The flights are on Estonian Air to LGW and from there connecting from LHR to Australia on QF flagship QF2 or BA flight. You should add to this fare the cost of a connecting flight from the US to Europe which is in the vicinity of $250-300 and you'll still get a bargain! I have been playing around with equations to allow me to quickly calculate relative value of mileage runs. I need a way to compare the value of different mileage runs on UA. For example, let's say I can fly to Hong Kong for $550 and get double miles in March or go to Singapore for $800 and get triple miles in April or I fly to Columbus, Ohio for $115 7 times. How do I compare mileage runs to get the best deals? My method to compare mileage runs. 1. Calculate the $ value of Status miles for the mileage run. 2. I'm trying to import my movies, and whenever I try nothing gets imported. I can import my tv shows just fine, but movies just will not work. I have it set to scrape from imdb. Whenever I try to "scan for new content" I can see it pop up and say "compressing database" but thats it. I checked the naming structure... and nothing still. I have got a set of Word templates that pull in personal data from an ini file for each user. There is also VBA macro that lets them update their info. The templates and the data are held on a network drive that they all have read-only access to. This has worked fine for several years but now it won't let them save data ti the ini files. As they have read-only access this isn't surprising (what surprises me is why it ever worked). I am reluctant to give them write access because I don't want them messing with the templates. I could move the ini files to somewhere else but a) this would be a big job and b) as it's been working fine I don't want to upset things by changing too much. Found an interesting article yesterday online. » Anyone Caught in Air Traffic Control Mess Friday?
Anybody affected by this on Friday? Canadian Airlines exerienced operational delays of up to three hours at Toronto's Pearson International Airport due to Air Traffic Control. The delays may have impacted service in the rest of Canada, the United States and internationally.Not this Friday, but I flew YOW-YYZ on Aug 6 and AC had many delays. At the AC counter they told me CP's flights until 8pm to Toronto were cancelled. The problem was high winds in Toronto. On the plane they told me the winds were from NW and only one runway open. Hi guys, I have 2 softmodded XMBCs. I have 1 set up downstairs and 1 upstairs, both hardwired and both were recently working fine on DHCP off a wrt54g. We just had a power outage and things got weird. Both XBMC connect succesfully using the upstairs connection, but neither can now connect using the downstairs connection, saying no link......but I can obtain an ip address with my laptop using the downstairs connection. So it must not be a physical media problem if my laptop can connect successfully. Is there any settings I am missing. Hi All: I have my XBOX connected to a linksys wrt54g that is running dd-wrt and it is set up as a bridge and it connects wireless two another linksys running dd-wrt and I can connect to the Internet through XBMC no problem. I'm have set up my shares in win XP. I cant connect to the PC through XBMC I get an error message (cant connect to network) but the Internet works. Since I have a UA flight number will I still get Aeroplan miles OR am I out of luck?As far as I know, only Mileage Plus miles can be earned on UA flights operated by US Airways. Hello, Ive got the problem with memory leak. I use IE engine and when I refresh the page (clicking F5 in IE) the browser has increased the memory by about 500kB to 1MB. Its terrible. When I remove Your extension to YUI I mean the line: memory is stable and does not leak. Have You any idea of how to resolve this problem ? There is a date in my Xml store. {name: 'birthDay', type: 'date', dateFormat: 'Y-m-d'} In my xml data ,the date is '2007-12-20T00: 00: 00', but with above set, I can not get the desire result ---'2007-12-20', there is null in display. I thought I would bring up this topic for those of us who practice mileage running to contemplate/debate. I am not going to pass judgement, and hope nobody else who posts on this thread will either. While overall it can be said that flying on airplanes gets better gas mileage than driving, we travel great distances on airplanes and therefore burn a lot of gas per person. For example (and I'm approximating values here), a 5,000 mile MR might use 50 mpg per person, so one person might burn up about 100 gallons of gas doing this. I noticed that my Ext.data.Store doesn't send the value of params (nor baseParams, for that matter) to the server when i call getStore().load(). The call itself goes to the server, of course, but the Request.Form is empty! I fixed the issue by sending in {params: 'bzzzz'} as a parameter to the load() method. When you CLICK into a textfield, if you want to select the existing text you might do something like this: fieldLabel: 'someLabel', name: 'someName', selectOnFocus: true,//select all of the existing text value: 'someValue' The above works fine when you CLICK into the field. I just bought two tix for two different people (a few months apart) on www.travelocity.co.uk (http://www.travelocity.co.uk) from Europe to Australia for just about 240 pounds ($360). This seems to be a giveaway and an internet anomaly!!! This is even cheaper than a fare between Europe and N-America!! The city search codes I used (and the only ones that produce this fare) are: TLL-SYD/MEL/BNE/ADL. The flights are on Estonian Air to LGW and from there connecting from LHR to Australia on QF flagship QF2 or BA flight. You should add to this fare the cost of a connecting flight from the US to Europe which is in the vicinity of $250-300 and you'll still get a bargain! I have been playing around with equations to allow me to quickly calculate relative value of mileage runs. I need a way to compare the value of different mileage runs on UA. For example, let's say I can fly to Hong Kong for $550 and get double miles in March or go to Singapore for $800 and get triple miles in April or I fly to Columbus, Ohio for $115 7 times. I'm trying to import my movies, and whenever I try nothing gets imported. I can import my tv shows just fine, but movies just will not work. I have it set to scrape from imdb. Whenever I try to "scan for new content" I can see it pop up and say "compressing database" but thats it. I checked the naming structure... and nothing still. I have got a set of Word templates that pull in personal data from an ini file for each user. There is also VBA macro that lets them update their info. The templates and the data are held on a network drive that they all have read-only access to. This has worked fine for several years but now it won't let them save data ti the ini files. As they have read-only access this isn't surprising (what surprises me is why it ever worked). I am reluctant to give them write access because I don't want them messing with the templates. I could move the ini files to somewhere else but a) this would be a big job and b) as it's been working fine I don't want to upset things by changing too much. Anybody affected by this on Friday? Canadian Airlines exerienced operational delays of up to three hours at Toronto's Pearson International Airport due to Air Traffic Control. The delays may have impacted service in the rest of Canada, the United States and internationally.Not this Friday, but I flew YOW-YYZ on Aug 6 and AC had many delays. At the AC counter they told me CP's flights until 8pm to Toronto were cancelled. The problem was high winds in Toronto. On the plane they told me the winds were from NW and only one runway open. Hi guys, I have 2 softmodded XMBCs. I have 1 set up downstairs and 1 upstairs, both hardwired and both were recently working fine on DHCP off a wrt54g. We just had a power outage and things got weird. Both XBMC connect succesfully using the upstairs connection, but neither can now connect using the downstairs connection, saying no link......but I can obtain an ip address with my laptop using the downstairs connection. So it must not be a physical media problem if my laptop can connect successfully. Is there any settings I am missing. Hi All: I have my XBOX connected to a linksys wrt54g that is running dd-wrt and it is set up as a bridge and it connects wireless two another linksys running dd-wrt and I can connect to the Internet through XBMC no problem. I'm have set up my shares in win XP. I cant connect to the PC through XBMC I get an error message (cant connect to network) but the Internet works. Well the title says it all. I just realized that I have booked myself on a couple of UA flights operated by US Air. Since I have a UA flight number will I still get Aeroplan miles OR am I out of luck?As far as I know, only Mileage Plus miles can be earned on UA flights operated by US Airways. UA flight numbers in the 2000-series are operated by US Airways.No AE miles if the flight is not operated by UA in this case. Hello, Ive got the problem with memory leak. I use IE engine and when I refresh the page (clicking F5 in IE) the browser has increased the memory by about 500kB to 1MB. Its terrible. When I remove Your extension to YUI I mean the line: memory is stable and does not leak. Have You any idea of how to resolve this problem ? PeterJust because the memory increases when you reload a page doesn't indicate a leak. It could indicate IE is caching things. 95% Leaks in IE are created by putting JS Objects on DOM nodes and I never do that. » dateFormat does not work
There is a date in my Xml store. {name: 'birthDay', type: 'date', dateFormat: 'Y-m-d'} In my xml data ,the date is '2007-12-20T00: 00: 00', but with above set, I can not get the desire result ---'2007-12-20', there is null in display. Why?i dont see how the date can be parsed correctly if you arent providing a dateFormat that matches it.When you read the date value into the data store like you're doing there you need to set the format as the format that the string is in, not the format that you want it to be when it comes out. I'm not to sure about the 'T' thats in the date string that you're passing there, but you can use the examples in the date section of the docs to see what formats are available. Well, what started as a simple MR to nail shut EXP for next year and spend a few hours in Tokyo has turned into a major trip involving getting a dear friend from SMF to ORD via SJC and connecting on to NRT where we will meet up when I arrive in from JFK then I have cashed in some miles to take us on Cathay on to HKG where we have 3 nights at the Grand Hyatt then back to NRT then on to ORD where we will split ways and I head home to MCI while friend heads back to Sacramento via SJC and her car. The trip report for this journey promises to be as complicated as the above sentence imitating a paragraph.
